A new real estate brokerage model?

August 10, 2020 by Marte Cliff

I just read a crazy article about the real estate brokerage model of the future.

This new model is inspired by two things: A coffee house and COVID-19.  OK – made no sense to me, but…A real estate brokerage model built around coffee

The coffee house concept is that it would be a welcoming environment, with everything you need right at hand. The coffee house would form the core, joined by a real estate brokerage that would be flanked by a title/legal office to handle closings and a professional printing and mailing company to handle marketing.

I THINK this is supposed to be welcoming and convenient for agents – not so much for their clients. (Although the clients might enjoy some coffee.)

So here’s the funny parts…

Whoever wrote that article forgot that not everyone lives in the south. His/her vision of this new real estate brokerage is an “open air but climate controlled environment.” It would have a roof, but apparently no exterior walls!

Good luck controlling that climate when the temp outside is 30 below!

To bow to the pandemic, the furnishings would be placed for social distancing and the room would be equipped with hand sanitizing stations. Oh – and charging stations and soothing music.

I’m so glad I’m not going there. Few things annoy me more than soothing music!
