Big news from Google…

May 20, 2026 by Marte Cliff

Following is a post that my partner, Florian Mopin, wrote on Active Rain.

Google to us AI now

On May 19th, at Google I/O 2026, they rolled out an “intelligent” search box powered by Gemini that can take more than text (images, files, video, even tabs). But the bigger change is what happens after you search. Instead of a list of ten blue links, Google is moving toward AI-generated answers (and sometimes full interactive experiences).

Read that again: not a page of options, an answer.

What does this mean for real estate agents?

It means the race to the top of the page just changed shape. For years, the playbook was clear: rank on page one and be one of the links people click. But when someone searches things like:
  • “Who is the best real estate agent in my area?”
  • “Best listing agent for condos near [neighborhood]”
  • “Who can help me buy a home with an FHA loan in [city]?”
…the new Google often does not show a directory first. It tries to generate a recommendation.
And the agents who show up in that answer are not there by luck. They are there because they have built the kind of presence AI systems learn to trust over time: consistent, helpful content; clear expertise; and credibility that is easy to verify.
That is exactly why we launched Pulse Estate this week. We built it around one core promise: help real estate agents become the answer inside AI-powered search, not just a link buried in the results.
We did not expect Google to make our point for us the very next day, but here we are.
Buyers and sellers are already changing how they search. The agents who adapt now will not just keep up, they will own the conversation.
We still have a few founding client spots open right now. If you have been on the fence, this week’s Google news is the clearest signal you are going to get.
