You never know when or where you’ll encounter a new client – or would be client. They could be hiding behind a rescue volunteer’s face, as in this heartwarming story by Christi Farrington.
When she rescued an ailing squirrel and took it for treatment, getting a new real estate client was far from her mind. She was thinking about the squirrel. And that’s why she Business cards are to give awayhanded the volunteer her card.
She wanted an update on the squirrel’s progress, so rather than write her name and number on a random piece of paper, she used her business card. Much to her surprise, that volunteer told her that the shelter needed to expand. They needed more land, and would be pleased to use an animal-loving real estate agent.
You may not rescue squirrels, but there are no doubt at least a few times each month when you want to re-connect with someone on a non-real estate matter. It could be another member of a group you volunteer with. It could be another parent on a playground. It could be someone in a book club – or even your local Tupperware dealer.
And here’s the bonus… because of the circumstances, that person will already be pre-disposed to like you. After all, you share some kind of interest.
