Question from a client: Can You “Clean Up” The Real Estate Copy I Wrote?

May 11, 2016 by Marte Cliff

Q & A – Can You “Clean Up” The Real Estate Copy I Wrote?

“I wrote my own bio, and it says what I wanted to say, but doesn’t say it very well. Would you be willing to fix it?”cleaning up

Every now and then this question comes up regarding bios, letters, articles, and even web copy. And the answer is “Sure.”

Sometimes the person just doesn’t know how to say what they want to say without rambling on for two pages. Sometimes they just can’t get the copy to flow well. Sometimes they’re unsure of their grammar, word choices, or spelling.

What they do know is the message they want to convey – and they’ve put the idea down in words but now can’t polish the words.

One such client is a man in a hurry. He could write his own sales pages if he wanted to take the time, but he doesn’t. Instead he’ll write something that you might call “stream of consciousness” copy. Then he’ll send it to me with a note saying “Will you pretty this up?”

I’m always happy to oblige – and of course it costs my clients far less than it would if I started from scratch.
