Using a form letter? Fill in the blanks!

April 10, 2017 by Marte Cliff

This morning’s email brought me an inquiry from someone who wished to failed proposalwrite guest posts for me.

I’m not really in the market for a guest blogger, and especially not for my Active Rain blog. However, I might consider one for my website blog if the topic happened to fit.

This writer, however, won’t be the one.

Here’s what he wrote:

“Are you looking for guest bloggers and contributors? If yes, I’ve got a great idea for a post that would do well on ActiveRain.”

“I’ve previously written for _____, _____, _____ and a few other sites as well. Here are some links to the posts I’ve written in the past, which have been received well by their readers and have resulted in positive traction:”

“I would love to collaborate with you if you are looking for some original and engaging content. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send some topics your way!”

Ummm… I think he forgot something.

It looked as if the same message had been sent to a number of Active Rain members, and I doubt if any of them will accept his offer.

Perhaps he should have proofread his message before he hit send.

I wonder if this was a form letter, furnished by a coach or as part of a course on marketing. I don’t suppose I’ll ever find out.
