We all know about the 80-20 rule – formally known as the Pareto Principle.
It applies to almost everything we do – 20% of your effort brings 80% of your results.
So what makes 20% of all agents hang on to 80% of the business?
What do they do that others don’t do?
First, and most obvious, they put more time and effort into their work – they’re self-starters who don’t waste time whining or playing video games when they could be doing something for their business.
What else?
- They treat their business like a business.
They have goals, plans, schedules, budgets, and record-keeping systems. - They market continuously.
They set up prospecting systems and put them on autopilot.
They network wherever they go.
They maintain good websites.
They blog – and share those blogs on at least one or two social sites. Active Rain is one of the best for real estate professionals. - They do more than their share.
When something needs to be done and “the other agent” isn’t getting it done, they step in without worrying about whose job it is. - They seek solutions.
Instead of giving up when they run into a problem, they do their best to solve it. - They maintain a good reputation.
They return phone calls and emails promptly.
They follow-up and do whatever they said they’d do.
They cooperate with other agents. - They keep a cheerful, positive attitude.
They may get as frustrated as anyone else, but they don’t grumble and whine – they just get on with it.
If you’re a top agent, you can probably add to this list, so go ahead… share!
